2015 Why Housing Matters

We prefer to be at home (rather than in the hospital) and yet there are times we need to be in the hospital. We also know there are dangers with being in a hospital - so "housing matters" with healthcare.

Does it matter with learning? If so - what are we doing to assure that:

1. The learning provided when someone is "away from home" is not dangerous

2. That learning "from home" is as effective when learning in a more closely supervised manner

3. That others who influence the learner are prepared to support the changes in performance that are expected from the learner?

Who is accountable for assuring the answers to these questions?

2016 Determining The Return-On-Investment For Consumer Care Management I...

Financial data is persistent - how we spend and our ability to take on new financial responsibility is available to others.

Health data is becoming persistent - with significant effort to maintain privacy

Learning data is transient - it is not shared between school systems or between employers. Could this change with security and privacy? Could we do it right by learning from Finance and Health?

2016 The I/DD Market – Evolution Ahead

Is a community-based model one that includes K12, local businesses, religious, local government and families? Could higher Ed continue to have a role - and not always the central role?

What would this look like if the individual played the central role?

What if each community entity invested in the individual and received benefits from the success of that individual?

2017 The Tech Equation In Value-Based Reimbursement Success

Would you support a shift with education?

  1. From volume to value?
  2. Using data from all available sources to assure outcome are being achieved?
  3. Taking steps to be on this path?

Does L&D have the authority, skills or desire to be on this path?

Do you wish they did?

What would need to change to accelerate this?

What role do you wish to have on this acceleration? - Lead, Follow, Stay out of the way, Hinder?

2018 Workforce Shortages As A Strategy Issue

While continuing to advance earlier detection and while continuing the necessary safeguards (knowledge, experience and accountability) is it possible and desirable to:

  1. Increase our ability to reduce the causes of what we are detecting earlier?
  2. Intervene earlier at lower cost and needed expertise ("ounce of prevention?")
  3. Motivate individual accountability when appropriate and practical?

How might task-shifting accomplish this?

2019 Primary Care—The More Things Change…

From an L&D perspective this might give us insight into the integration of corporate L&D (primary care) and functional L&D (line of business.)

What challenges do you anticipate for this line of thinking?

2020 The Pandemic Provides A New Urgency For The Integrated Care Issue

What crisis might cause us to innovate in a manner that changes the way we assure performance outcomes?

2021 “How Are You Doing?” Is Not Going To Cut It

How do I know how I am doing? How do we know if it matters?

2022 Data? I Don’t Want To Know

What comes first - the data to make decisions - or the decision on which data to consider?

What is your response to data that does not confirm your beliefs - challenge the data or challenge your beliefs?

Who are you more likely to be accept being challenged by - someone you trust or someone you do not trust?

2023 Reducing Psychiatric Boarding – What Will Work?

When do we intervene to address the needs of an employee that is not performing well?

Might we do this too soon?

Might we do it too late?

What would you want for yourself if you were not performing well?

What if you believed it was a temporary issue?

What if you did not know how to help yourself?

What if you did not know you were not performing well?
