2014 Planning For The New Managed Care

Here is a definition of Managed Care - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Managed_care

What would managed learning look like?

Would it cross-over employers and providers?

Would you resist it or work to improve it - or ignore it?

2015 Managing Change in Today’s Chaotic Health Care Market

"Structured approaches to managing change abound, each with their own pros and cons.

"...Kotter’s eight-step change model. Created by Harvard University Professor John Kotter, the model approaches change as a “campaign:”

  1. "Increase the urgency for change
  2. Build a team dedicated to change
  3. Create the vision for change
  4. Communicate the need for change
  5. Empower staff with the ability to change
  6. Create short term goals
  7. Stay persistent
  8. Make the change permanent"

Have we assumed that our employees, managers, customers, partners and communities are skilled at managing change?

Are we skilled at managing change?

Do our business models and culture hinder or support our need for change?

2016 Aligning Clinical Compensation For The New Value Equation

"...most clinical professionals are highly invested in doing a “great job” for the consumers they serve. How to measure that – and how to measure that in ways that are in sync with the payer value equation is the issue. Cost is easiest to measure, but what are the measures that best capture the consumer experience and consumer outcomes? How do we measure the “art” of clinical practice? Can the new environment of value-based reimbursement coexist with “satisfied” clinical professionals?"

How is academia doing in terms of the sync between professors and the needs of students, administration, parents and the business community?

How are we doing in the business world in terms of the sync between our instructional professionals and the needs of our clients?

Would you change anything about academia or corporate learning? Why (or why not) and how (not what) would you accomplish the change if needed?

2017 Is Your Organization Data Reactive – Or Data Predictive?

"... there is no competitive advantage and no return-on-investment (ROI) for that investment if organizations don’t have the ability to put that information into use. Is your management teams ready to use the data they have? One sure way to tell is to answer another question – does your management team think that using data is primarily about “what has already happened” or about “what is going to happen.” That is my short-hand diagnostic assessment of data reactive versus data predictive management teams."

To be data predictive I suggest you consider the following:

1.Questions: Ask new questions about old problems (or seek new answers to old questions)

2.Data Sources: Determine potential sources of data that may help provide answers to the new or old questions

3.Connect: Use technology to connect the sources of data

4.Intellect: Use human intellect to make better decisions based on the new data

5.Automate: Use technology to automate the decision process
