This makes good sense for human and economic reasons.

Are there instances within the corporate environment where it makes sense to do similar cost sharing? We do for the upper levels of management. The costs of hiring and training corporate "overhead" is carried by the business lines whose profit is tapped to cover these costs.

What about at the lower levels of the organization? Does the cost of customer service training for maintenance technicians belong only to the maintenance line of business? Yes - traditionally - but the benefit is broader than to the amount of revenue generated by maintenance contracts.

Might there be some training initiatives focused on narrow populations but for which the cost is carried by all?

2016 New CDC Opioid Guidelines Present New Opportunities

Before reading this article - I might have thought - what could possibly be wrong with a process that reduces pain?

So - read the article if you wish - but from a training perspective - might we ask a similar question? Here are some examples?

1. What could possibly be wrong with prescribing training for a skills gap identified with an assessment?

2. What could possibly be wrong with having mandatory training sessions?

3. What could possibly be wrong with having mandating 80 hours (of fill in the blank number of hours) of training every year for every employee?

What question would you add to this list? Why?
