2014 Do You Want “Granular” Control Over Your Health Record?

"The steady growth of coordinated care models and value-based reimbursements are dependent on exchanging a lot of consumer health information – payers want better management of health care spending; provider organizations need to “plug in” to be effective, and clinical professionals want data for better decision making. All of this relies on “big data” and analytics – which in turn is dependent on access to detailed data on consumer health status. Most of these activities are covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). But a question remains, which could throw a wrench in this “data nirvana” scenario. Should consumers have “granular” control of their personal health records?"

"By granular, consumers would have control over “the collection, use, and disclosure of their health information”, specifically over information within their health care records."

Would better access to data allow us to assure better performance outcomes?

What amount of control would you like to have about your "learning/performance" records?

Would it interest you to know what conclusions are being drawn about you based on these records?

2015 Reducing Paraprofessional Employee Turnover

"According to the Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI), a direct care workforce association and advocacy group, improving the recruitment and retention of paraprofessionals is tied to three factors – compensation, opportunity, and support"

What is unique to paraprofessionals about these three factors?

  1. Compensation is limited
  2. Career growth is limited
  3. Support is provided from those for whom compensation and career growth is limited

Compensation is an "easy" tactic - but it does not address turnover. So how can we address career growth and support? How can patient outcomes be a factor?

Do we have a turnover challenge with our professionals and paraprofessionals? What issues do we face? What might we do differently? What industry has "solved" the turnover challenge? How did they solve it?

2016 Making ‘High Growth’ Work For Your Organization

"The question is, how do you build and maintain a positive, high-performing culture during periods of high growth?"

This sounds like a "nice" problem to have. How does it compare to building and maintaining a high-performance culture during periods of slow-growth or decline?

Perhaps the question does not need a growth qualifier?

2017 Telehealth Is Remaking More Than Therapy

"...telehealth services will be a major disruptor of the health and human service system—online therapy, remote consultations, virtual follow-up groups, and more"

What disruptions have occurred in our industry? What got destroyed by the disruption? What disruptions would you like to see in our industry? What industry myth would you like to see destroyed?

2018 Seven Hospital Systems Join To Create Civica Rx, A Generic Pharmace...

"a coalition of seven hospital systems announced the launch of Civica Rx, a non-profit generic drug company. Civica Rx will initially focus on 14 hospital-administered generic drugs. Although the drug pipeline has not yet been released, the first products are expected to be available in early 2019. Civica Rx also intends to provide generic medications to the retail market. Civica Rx has submitted an application for manufacturing approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA); a meeting was scheduled for mid-September 2018. Civica Rx intends to directly manufacture, or subcontract manufacturing . . ."

Where have we experienced this type of innovation in our industry? Would you like to see it? Why or why not?

2019 For I/DD, The Action Is At The State Level

My observations of our industry is that we use technology to build content and to deliver content.

How else might we use technology?

How might it be used to assure the content is being applied? And being applied effectively?

How might it be used to redesign processes to remove dependence on training? Is this idea our competition? Our ally? Our path to earning a seat at the table?
