"Providing good services isn’t enough. Every specialist organization needs both the metrics to measure the “performance” of their services and a “vertical strategy” to plug into the health systems that cover the consumers in their market area."
What is your vertical strategy? Does our industry have a brand or reputation related to "vertical strategy?"
What does the following inspire for you?
o address this from a strategy development perspective, there are a few key steps:
- "Identify the core future services lines of your organization – compile the performance metrics and value proposition of each.
- Identify the payers in your market area with greatest market share.
- From that short list of payers, identify their strategic relationships in your market area – ACOs, hospital partnerships, lead agencies, managed behavioral health plans, disease management programs, medical/health home providers, etc."

Every October, the World Health Organization observes this day to draw attention to mental health issues worldwide, “with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.” World Mental Health Day, and other education initiatives, are built on the idea that we need to do more to draw attention to mental health issues — including access to care, coverage and reimbursement issues, new treatment options, and the stigma surrounding mental health."
Is there a stigma associated with poor performance outcomes?
I find it ironic that our industry seems reluctant (as did healthcare) to accept responsibility for the outcomes of the people whose needs allow us to earn a living. How can we work more closely with those who need our help - and mitigate concerns of stigma for them or us?

I fear that we are more likely to bring in a new skipper than allow the skipper to build a new boat. How do we decide which option to choose? How do we manage the transition to whichever option is chosen?
