Drucker asserts that the mission should state the reason an entity exists and be supported by a realistic statement of goals. "It needs to focus on objectives."

Perhaps controversial is Drucker's assertion that if after repeated failure to achieve the objectives that the conclusion should be that the objective is wrong or defined wrong.

What objectives does the training industry generally strive to attain?

Which of these objectives have been achieved successfully?

Which of these objectives have not been achieved successfully

Are there objectives that are wrong or in need of redefinition?

Mission: Why the entity exists

Goals: Something that is genuinely attainable

Objectives:

Are programs and projects defined as activities intended to reach the goal?

How do we avoid focusing on objectives in a manner that clouds the goal and deviates from the mission?

How do we decide if the mission is no longer applicable (time for a pivot?)
