I do not agree with "covering up some aspect of a situation" - "implies that I am greater than you."
To me it implies - I wish to hide a weakness - I do not want you think less of me - and I think less of myself for having covered it up.
Being transparent means either:
- I trust you to accept me for who I am
- God accepts me for who I am - you have the free will to make your decision
