What would it take for there to be knowledge insurance? We assume that if someone has a college degree, professional certification or actual experience in a field that they have acquired the knowledge (and know how to use it) related to work they have been contracted or hired to perform.

With insurance - if the applied knowledge did not get the results - the insurer would be asked to provide compensation to the entity that was relying on the knowledge to be applied. There might be some type of proof required regarding whether the knowledge was applied to a relevant matter.

Certainly the insurance underwriters would perform due diligence prior to issuing the insurance and set rates accordingly - probably with options related to deductibles.

If this were available and you had a choice of hiring two otherwise competent appearing people and the one who was insured wanted to be compensated higher than the other - what would you do?

If you had a choice of buying training from two different providers and one offered to insure the participants - would that impact your thinking related to your choice?

As an underwriter of this insurance -what would you want to know before setting rates?

2015 Navigating the Path to Better Payer Relationships

The healthcare industry has a complex payment system that is perhaps not to be emulated –but we can learn from it.

We have some examples related to workplace learning –usually managed by government entities (e.g. Georgia Retraining Tax Credit and Workforce Development Grants) -where the payer is different from the direct beneficiary.

What would it take to establish a market for a third party (for profit provider) to pay the costs of training and get reimbursed by the trainee based on the performance gain enjoyed by the employer of the trainee or earning improvement of the trainee?

2017 Building A Strategy For ‘Dual Eligible’ Consumers With Disabilities

I recently made a casual comment to a friend - "everyone wants to be healthy" - and my friend quickly responded - "actually - no one wants to be unhealthy."

The point is a good one - "everyone wants to be smart" - or is it really that "no one wants to appear to be stupid?"

How do we assure that we are smart versus - just looking smart or "not being stupid?"
