"The mobile health (mHealth) market is expected to grow to $400 million by 2016 (see Smartphone Wellness Application Market Value To Triple by 2016) – with over a billion annual downloads, a 66% annual increase in app users (see By 2015, 500 Million Will Use Mobile Health Applications), and more than 3,000 apps to choose from (see More Than 3,000 Mental Health Apps Available For Download, Limited ...).

Apps and the mobile health market have been dominated by the tech field and venture capital with the use of investor money to fund development.  We’ve covered many of the announcements of these new ventures:"

  1. "Conceptualization and defining objectives
  2. Innovation factor
  3. Feature Scope
  4. Development
  5. Beta testing
  6. Patient and Consumer Safety Considerations

2015 Where Are We With Managed Long-Term Services & Supports?

"In 2013, we saw the majority of long-term services and supports funding shift from institutional care to home- and community-based services (HCBS) for the first time ever"

Why is this happening? Is it a predictive reaction or a responsive reaction?

Whether predictive or responsive - what might it be a reaction to?

Long term care is not new - the shift is to home-based vs. institution based?

Is cost a factor?

Is quality a factor?

Is preference a factor?

How do these factors apply the workforce in general? How are we adapting?

2016 Nebraska Puts Eastern Region Child Welfare Services Out To Bid

"...for full-service case management for child welfare in Douglas and Sarpy counties, which comprise the DHHS Eastern Service Area. The state intends to award a five-year contract with two one-year renewal options. Reimbursement for the contract is a performance-based model with fixed administrative and variable daily per-child rate payments, and a total annual payment cap to be proposed in the bids."

What will the future of outsourcing be regarding learning in the workplace?

What do you wish it to be?

What could disrupt your preference?

How are you preparing for this potential disruption?

2017 What Do Adolescents Want (In Mobile Health Apps)?

"High levels of consumer engagement are the “golden standard” for health care organizations—with the assumption that engaged consumers are more involved in self-management and use fewer resources"

Do we wish for consumers to be engaged, more involved in self-management and use fewer resources?

"Using focus groups of adolescents with disabilities, researchers explored mHealth systems to support self-management and prevent emergency room use. The researchers found that these youth “keep their mobile phones with them at all times” and identified five key elements in designing tech for this group:"

  1. "Make it easy
  2. Engage
  3. Educate and prepare
  4. Motivate and support
  5. Personalize"

2018 The Primary Care Reinvention

"....“key elements” of primary care—”assess, prescribe, and refer.” My initial reaction was that those are functions that could be facilitated using augmented intelligence, freeing up physicians to spend more time with consumers."

"....the primary care market is being reinvented before our eyes...five factors... are changing the role of primary care in the health and human service system."

  1. "rapid expansion of retail care.
  2. primary care practices are the focus of some new (and interesting) investors.
  3. a new resurgence in “house calls” in health care.
  4. changing perceptions of primary care by the younger population.
  5. payer preference for “specialty” primary care (and specialty medical homes)."

What percentage of your sales force or managers or service reps succeeded last year? Is it desirable for the number to be 100% Do we intentionally limit it to 80% or lower?

What trends exist regard success levels?

Are these trends company or industry specific?

What would we do differently if we had access to national or international trends?
