2015 Succession Planning – The Reality

“'The goal of any succession plan is to minimize disruption and assure a seamless a transition as possible. But I’ve found that when things go wrong, they go very wrong.' From not having a clear interim plan in place, to internal power struggles and conflicts, to a lack of consensus about the organization’s future goals – there are plenty of opportunities for things to go 'off the rails' during the process of replacing an executive."

  • What are the benefits of having a succession plan to the company? To the employee? To the owners of the company?
  • Are there standards or norms for a succession plan design?
  • When do you find out whether your succession plan is designed properly?
  • Is it desirable or possible to have a succession plan for every role in a company?
  • Is cost a factor? What could be done to minimize the cost?
  • Who trains people on how to build, maintain and apply the succession plan?
  • How do we assure that we have an effective role in succession plans?

2016 The Future Of Treatment Tech Is Blended

  • Blended or hybrid care models are the future
  • Value-based purchasing is making these technologies more important (but slowly)
  • Technology has to be adopted at all levels

We use technology to build and deliver content.

How are we using technology to assure level 3 and level 4 Kirkpatrick? Or Moments 3, 4 and 5 of Moments of Need - or to eliminate or reduce the need for training - in a manner similar to how the GPS and autonomous vehicles may eliminate or reduce the need for maps?

"Next year could be a watershed year for telehealth. Currently, use of telehealth in the U.S. health and human service delivery system could be described as “sporadic” and “uneven.” Earlier this year, we looked at the adoption rates and they are very low – The Telehealth Numbers Are In – And They Aren’t Too Impressive. These data are reflected in the SERMO survey that found that only 15% of U.S. physicians thought their state was doing a good job with telehealth, and 44% called telehealth implementation outright poor "

This might be an area where healthcare could benefit from our industry. What improvements have you experienced with online learning that you would like to see teleheath consider? Do you think telehealth will achieve widespread adoption? Do you want it to?
