2015 The Landscape Of Behavioral Health Carve-Ins

"This shift in policy and financing is a result of a number of changes. The first is the shift towards care coordination and the need to find new ways to facilitate this shift. The second is the advancements in science (technology, pharmaceuticals, etc.) that have allowed non-mental health specialists to manage behavioral health care."

What shifts in learning coordination are we seeing? (or do we want to see?) For my entire career I have heard the call for managers to be better coaches. Have we made sustainable progress with this? Are there advancements in science that make this more likely? What is our role in these shifts and the advancements?

2016 Maybe Your Team Needs A Health Integration Meeting

"We have written frequently about the difficulty in getting primary care/behavioral integration to work (Gambling With Integration? and Integration Model Decisions Are Strategy Work At Its Most Fundamental) – including how the medical community and the behavioral health community speak different languages (see The Language Barrier To Integration)."4

  • We comment frequently about how the business community and the learning community speak different languages?
  • What might we learn from how the medical community and the behavioral health community are solving their integration?

"What I found interesting was that bringing both sides to the table is great for keeping the necessary conversations going, but the “normal” integration challenges still need addressed – there can be a lot of mistrust and misunderstanding on both sides of the table; participant buy-in is not guaranteed and takes both time and work, both sides need to be educated on the importance of sharing their “turf,” and the challenges of sharing data through EHRs continue to be felt."

Do we have:

  • mistrust?
  • misunderstanding?
  • challenges sharing data?

2021 Making The Swap – Technology For Workforce

What aspect of the services you receive would you pay more if delivered by technology rather than a human?

What aspect of your work would you accept less compensation for if you were allowed to use technology to accomplish it?
