8. Perseverance

"...the highest manifestation of perseverance is in pursuit of the common good; and wisdom, because we have to understand which is the correct side of any issue."

Does every issue have a correct side?

Is correctness easily disguised due to context?

Is correctness constant or variable?

Determination - "....we have to be imminently teachable, able not only to embrace our failures but to learn from them, grow and then move on."

Tenacity - "Once you have determined an idea or principle is worth fighting for, then you have a moral obligation to fight for it, come what may."

Endurance - "...no one can win the race, or even finish, who lacks the fortitude to enter the race to begin with."

Seeing Tasks Through - "Once we decide that a project is worthwhile for all concerned and we take it on, we have to have the courage and sheer determination to see it through, regardless of the obstacles."

Inspiring Others to Persevere - "...they believe their efforts will make a positive difference."

Regarding endurance - My Dad taught me to love what I do (not necessarily do what I love.) This helped me adapt what to was doing (and endure it) because I did it in a way that I loved. Eventually this allowed me to love what I do and do what I love.
