2015 If You've Seen One, Have You Seen Them All?
Years ago I remember reading the perspective of an executive at Dupont regarding technology. In brief - there were three choices:
1. Go with defacto standards (which means waiting until something has emerged as the standard)
2. Go with a particular vendor that you believe is the leader (this usually meant IBM)
3. Define your own standards and expect the industry to meet your expectations (this could work for a "Dupont")
I think today there is a new choice:
4. Get in the game, experience immediate benefit and be willing to reinvest quickly

From a learning perspective - as we consider the potential for "performance support technologies - not as training tools but as long term service and support - we can radically reposition the role of the corporate training function. Who will understand these tools? Who will educate the decision makers on the ROI related to these tools? Who will assure cross-functional compatibility?
