2014 Metrics Based Managing As "Cause & Effect"

The challenge is to avoid becoming captive to our data. The strategy and process will yield the date it was designed to yield. What it the landscape changes? This has been a problem in warfare - why did the British wear "Red Coats" - I guess because in those days the foes agreed to wear distinguishing colors to avoid "friendly-fire."

In healthcare there seems to be a correlation between stress and heart attacks. Mondays are a popular day for heart attacks because there is also an apparent correlation between work and stress. For most of the 20th century there were more men working in high stress jobs than woman - might the data we have be biased towards heart attacks in men. Is it fair to extrapolate this date for women?

Similarly - and perhaps more easily - with education - new technologies are emerging and new ways to access information and perform work are emerging. How can we be assured that data collected and analyzed a year ago (or more) is still effective?

2015 Centene's Washington Subsidiary Wins Statewide Apple Health Foster ...

I am intrigued by the focus of healthcare on well-defined segments (based on payment source and demographic) and the tendency to outsource these segments to for-profit entities. Prison populations, people who have aged-out of Foster Care, elderly and behavioral health. Perhaps it is coincidence but these seem to be "safety-net" segments unable to afford their own care and perhaps without access to insurance - and for whom failure to receive care would have impact to society beyond the humanistic concerns - important as they are.

We see this in education (for example- children with dyslexia) and it appears to have positive impact.

Does it have relevance in the workplace? Can it be applied without stigmatizing the population being served?

How much of what we learn about management for example is a result of what we learned from:

1. Our parents

2. Our churches

3. Our formal education

Are there any statistics that correlate results to our backgrounds? Would it be useful to focus on this?

2016 To Hit The ‘Triple Aim’, You Need The ‘Quadruple Aim’

We have the Kirkpatrick model which provides four things to "aim" at for the learner?

Are there four aims for the provider? Are they well-integrated with the four for the learner?

This seems obvious - so perhaps the challenge is on how to integrate these versus considering them as separate targets? Or perhaps - doing them vs. simply talking and planning about them? Where have you experienced success with the "quadruple-aim?" What sustainable changes have you made or will you make to assure all "four" (eight) outcomes - every time?

Perhaps in the future an "Uber or Lyft" mindset will merge with "Tele-learning?" What value would this create - for whom? What challenges? This is what LiveMocha implemented - where did that go? - why?
