2014 What To Do When Strategy Fails
A challenge I have seen is that a strategy might assume it is needed forever. The risk is not seeing that the problem the strategy was focused on has either been solved or misunderstood. How do we challenge ourselves before the market reality does the challenging for us? Do we have a role in helping the other business functions in our enterprise challenge themselves? Perhaps yes if we consider ourselves to be responsible for leadership development. Definitely yes if we consider ourselves responsible for performance assurance.

Do we treat employees differently based on their business function, specific manager or the employee's negotiating skills? Most enterprises offer some form of benefits to their employees - sometimes in a "cafeteria" format - especially for benefits that extend outside of work related matters such as pet insurance, auto insurance, legal assistance. Is there room for professional development benefit - independent of the source? In addition to tuition reimbursement - would there be potential to offer benefits from the training source of the employee's choice?
