Will a business unit be able to outperform its leader?

Will individual performance be able to overcome poor leadership?

Who is the leader in classroom training? elearning? social learning?

How is the leader determined in each of these situations?

How can the training organization influence the determination of the leader in a mannner that inspires improved performance by all participants?

It feels to me like the leader in the classroom - is the instructor. I have seen situations where a student attempts to undermine the leader or where the instructor undermines themselves. If the other learners take responsibility for their own learning they may still succeed - if not their are at risk for having lost an opportunity.

With elearning the leader may be the "voice" of the course. We make effort to assure that the "voice" deserves the role it has been given. How might this voice be "undermined?"

With social learning the leader may be the "community" - the consensus - the -"politically correct" sense of what is right? How might this voice be "undermined?"
