As the "managers" of the learning experience (whether for ourselves or others) we must focus on the entire experience.
This includes prepration, consumption, practice, application and measurement. Much like the orchestra that Drucker writes about today - these actions are likely to be taking place simultaneously.
The training industry has traditionally focused on "events" that are separated from the "real world." While there are many that offer alternatives to this approach it is still common. Very few if any perform all the actions mentioned above in a simultaneous fashion.
Measurement (other than "smiles") is probably the least effective component of what our industry creates.
Is this OK?

How often do things go exactly as planned? And if success requires a set of simultaneous and dynamic activities to occur - how likely is it that each will go as planned? While it is not likely that we could practice everything that could go wrong it is likely that we can prepare ourselves to focus on the desired outcome - no matter what goes differently than planned.
How has training evolved to prepare the learner to perform with a focus on the outcome?
