What does the "threat" of abandonment produce? - Justification not to abandon?


Not too long ago a client told me they were delivering a "mandatory" product trainng session every Friday afternoon for worldwide consumption. Only about half of the required attendees were regularly attending.


I asked if there was any noticeable difference in performance by those that attended regularly in comparison to those that did not attend. The answer was that no difference was perceived.


Shortly after this conversation the mandatory sessions were abandoned.


What elements would you include in a formal "abandonment" program?
