Drucker asserts that while an early focus on profits may hurt the new venture that a focus on cash-flow analysis, cash-flow forecasts and cash management are essential (and often overlooked.)

So, while we expect "profits" from our investments in learning. We also need to manage the flow of knowledge. Are we expecting profits to flow from "grades?" Might we benefit more from watching the flow of knowledge - the knowledge we consume, generate and invest over time?

  • Have we set expectations for the results that the knowledge will produce?
  • Are we measuring the flow of knowledge? (trainer/learner/supporter)
  • Are we able to forecast the impact of knowledge? (And be accountable for the forecast?)

What barriers are there to the ability to forecast the impact of knowledge-flow?
