Why does the corporate training department exist?

I believe it is so that a corporation can have a process that assures that the right people are hired, fired, placed and promoted.

Each of these essential elements must be associated with a process that is significantly stronger than gut feel?

Does your company have processes and training for the managers and employees to assure that each one understands their role in hiring, firing, placement and promotion?

While our instincts may serve us well - would a process serve us better? While instincts may help us start a company - will a company be able to achieve sustainable growth on instincts?

Too often however I have seen us maintain a process beyond its useful life. We need to have a formal process to evaluate the processes we use - including the process of evaluating processes.
