What would happen if as part of the enrollment in a course the learner was required to:

1. Describe what was expected from the provider of the training

2, Describe what the learner thinks is expected from them

Item 2 will include:

a. The standards by which the learner's performance should be measured

b. The things the learner will do

c. Obstacles that are anticipated

d. Help that will be needed from others

Is this desireable?

What obstacles might hinder its success?

What outcomes would warrant investments to overcome the obstacles?

What if this were the way performance reviews were conducted? This would be better than a manager's review of performance based on spreadsheets and direct observation of a very small portion of the work done.

The worker would describe what they expect from the employer and what work is expected from them. The worker would also have the freedom to describe how their work should be measured. This could be done at the beginning of a "measurement period" and updated on an agreed upon basis.

Would this allow for the "elimination of misdirection" - and increased engagement - and better results?
