If we self-govern and something goes wrong - who do we have to blame?
On the other hand if everything we do is "governed" by others and something goes wrong - there is always someone else to blame.
The victim mentality looks for blame and looks for help.
What mentality do we want our learners to reflect? In the classroom? With e-learning? With informal learning? On the job?
What mentality to they reflect?
How is self-governing differentiated from anarchy?
Many years ago I entered a training program with about 50 adults and we learned that it would be a self-governed (self-directed) program. Each week we had fewer attendees and finally after about six weeks (the program was to last 12 weeks) there were only three of us left so the program was terminated.
Have we been conditioned to believe that we cannot self-govern in the classroom?
