Drucker asserts that success creates the inability to change - why argue with success?
From a training perspective - the internal organization has achieved success - it has a monopoly related to its internal customer base. It's challenge is to continue to innovate not just to cut costs but to improve performance of its clients.
The external organization needs to broaden its perspective on what it does for its clients. Its initial success can trap it into following a client too closely and missing where the market is going.
Soon more nimble and effective competitors will displace internal and external providers that fail to innovate for improved client performance.
