Does it make sense to be a career trainer?

 

Does it make sense to rotate trainers between field positions and training positions?

 

How about training management? What would happen if they also rotated between field positions and training positions?

 

I believe that the training organization and the line organization would both benefit.

 

What if the field rotation included different lines of business. A training manager that had field experience as an individual contributor and as a manager in two lines of business plus training would be even more valuable as a manager to any one of the three businesses.
