Drucker makes a clear and strong statement regarding the role of non-profits in relation to solving social problems.
The analogy that I will make from this (and then think about for a year or so) is the following:
Are we as training organizations more concerned with our own existence than with the well-being of the people that we are training?
Are we more concerned with "harnessing social learning"and tracking social learning via our Enterprise LMS than we are with enabling peer-to-peer learning?
Learners have been learning informally forever and I do not think that we want or expect this to end.
Are we the formal training organizations acting more like bureaucrats than advocates when it comes to the importance of informal learning in the workplace?
