Drucker's assertion is that compromise is inevitable in decision making so one is better off by initially focusing on the right outcome and not worrying about the future compromises.


It seems like so many training decisions are motivated by compromise.


Classroom training is inconvenient so we'll build online learning.

Online learning is subject to multi-taskers being distracted so we'll make it available in an ondemand format so that people can review it.

Expenses are tight so we'll eliminate all training.


What would it take for training to assert itself by focusing on the right thing to do and deal with the compromises later?

I had an inspiring meeting today with a person who I did not know well. I decided ahead of time that the right outcome would be that I would trust the person and feel safe with him. That happened. Was I just lucky?
