The essence of this is that one extreme is to never change and the other extreme is have constant change. While it is popular to state that change is a constant the reality is that most people resist change and that it always takes longer to implement something new than we planned.

 

The training function has an opportunity to help learners and the organization establish the equilibrium needed between the organizational need for "constant" change and the individual need for "continuity."

 

The role of training will evolve from providing information to:

 

1. Increasing the readiness for change

2. Supporting the ability to self-manage change

3. Enabling sustained performance by providing what is needed when it is needed
