I agree with the growing perception that the Knowledge Era will require Knowledge Workers whose knowledge will continue to get narrow and deep. Combine this with the fact that the useful life of knowledge is getting shorter and it once again creates a need for the "Human Learning Machine."

Part of this responsibility includes sharing knowledge with others and depending on them to share their knowledge with us.

The concept of "training" as an "event" has been targeted for obsolescence for quite a while but we need to take this very seriously.

As trainers we need to be committed to our team within the training organization and to our “team” that are the recipients of the learning that we manage. The recipients need to keep us informed of changes that they are experiencing.

This is worth repeating: When teaching a class I request that the learners turn their devices on (phones, laptops…whatever.) I want to set the tone that we have a responsibility to each other. Their ability to verify in "real time" anything that we are discussing is important to them and to me.

What other techniques would you recommend be part of 21st century “learning” as a reflection of “Information Responsibility?”
