7 June Sudden Incompetence (...the failed promotion)

When we are "young" we do not rely upon our experience to solve problems. We do our best to understand the problem and then we do our best to solve it. We have neither the advantage nor the burden of experience.

 

As we gain more experience we naturally tend to use it. This serves us well.

 

And then "suddenly" we discover ourselves to be incompetent because we are adept at applying experience instead of adept at solving problems.

 

As trainers we need to apply this lesson first to ourselves and then "live it" as we help our customers "learn it."
