Decisions - Risks - Action - Resources - Work - I "wish" there was a pronouncable acronym for this sequence.

Drucker asserts that the success of long-range plans are the result of a series of short-range decisions.

A decision is likely to create short-term risk.

A choice of action may mitigate the risk.

Resources must be committed to accomplish the action.

The work must be done successfully in order to realize the intended results of the decision.

What is the likelihood of success (short-term or long-term) if the chain that links decisions to work is not functioning properly?

What does the chain that links training to work (think bulldozer) look like in your company?

How could this chain function better?

Recently I've been thinking about the gap between a successful intuitive business owner and a successful executive in a large firm.

I think that the intuitive business owner can link decisions to work (intuitively managing risks, action and resources.)

The successful executive establishes systems to link decisions to work because their experience has taught them that intuition "does not scale."
