The challenge posed by Drucker is to determine whether we have a generic problem that can be solved with a standard solution (perhaps with adaptation) or if we have a truly unique problem that requires a unique solution.

 

The challenge for the training industry is that while it makes sense to train people around standards and common problems (this is likely the most efficient choice) - we also need to help people identify the truly unique situations so that a unique solution can be created.

 

We commonly refer to this as using judgment. How do we teach judgment?
